Welsh Triathlon

Dwr y Felin pupil secured a Welsh Triathlon Bronze medal for the 2015 Series and was presented with her medal last week. She represented Dwr-Y-Felin School in the last triathlon of the season in Carmarthen putting in a great performance to secure the Bronze against a strong field of Year 8 athletes.

Netball Success

Our Year 9 and 10 netball teams were successful in their league match against Birchgrove last night. Year 9 played very well winning 11-6. Nia Evans being awarded Player of the Game! Year 10 convincingly won 11-2. A great performance by all including Megan Johns who stepped up to play with the Year 10s and awarded Player of the Game for her efforts. Well done ladies!

Sporting success over the summer holidays

Sporting success from over the summer holidays update…. Sophie Topper (Year 8), Freja Davies (Year 9), Seren Hughes (Year 10) – selected for the West Glamorgan football squad. Seren Hughes – selection to Welsh cricket senior ladies squad. Bethany Moule New javelin PB of 42.20m – placing 1st in the U15 Welsh Championships. Dwr-y-Felin Athletics Team

Our young Athletics team represented Afan Nedd Tawe in the NASUWT Wales Athletics Competition. They were awesome. They were a credit to themselves and the school. They finished in 2nd place overall only slightly behind Cardiff & The Vale School, Glantaf. Within the results on the day, two of our girls set new records. Bethany Moule threw 40.76m in the Javelin. Year 9 Rounders Team

A huge congratulations to the Yr 9 rounders team for coming 2nd out of 16 teams at a tournament in Pontardulais Comprehensive, winning their pool convincingly! Dwr-y-Felin then went onto the final Round Robin (3 teams). With each team losing a match each, it came down to rounders scored within the final. We scored 13 ½, whilst the winners scored 14.

Gnoll Challenge

Dwr-y-Felin entered a KS3 and KS4 team this year in the Gnoll Challenge. This multi-agency event is run in conjunction with the South Wales Police and Fire Service, Prince’s Trust, National Probation Service, Snap Cymru and local colleges and businesses. Now in its 24th year the event attracts children and young people from over 100 schools throughout Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
