Past pupils Kieran Thomas-Jenkins, Emily Pearce, Lily Pearce and Amy Regan accept the High Sherrif’s award for their work on petitioning the Welsh Government to ensure all schools in Wales have Wellbeing Ambassadors. The petition was put on hold due to Covid, but the Welsh Government is now in the process of taking it to members. Well done all for your hard work and effort and all the best for your future.

Huge congratulations to our very hardworking #PLEnterprise team who won the local heat today and now get to represent #SCAFC. They have given up hours and hours of their own time over the past 4 weeks to come up with a fantastic pitch based around autism inclusion at matches. Year 10 pupil, Bethany Moule, has been selected to represent Wales in the Javelin event in this years’ Youth Commonwealth Games, to be held in the Bahamas this coming July. What an amazing achievement! Congratulations Bethany and good luck!

Year 11 pupil, Lara-Jai Lewis, has been selected to dance in the opening ceremony of the UEFA Champions League Cup Final in Cardiff on June 3rd. She will be taking part in the opening ceremony with the artist who has not yet been named. Lara-Jai has appeared as a dancer on television previously, on channel 5 and CBBC, but this will be her first paid work as a professional dancer. Yesterday, 6 pupils took part in the Afan Nedd Tawe Schools Cross Country event held in a very muddy Margam park. Congratulations to Yr10 pupil Bethany Moule (of Neath Harriers), who on Saturday 21st January, at the West Wales Indoor Athletics Championships, was presented with the JDB Williams Award by the Welsh Schools Athletics Association for the top field event performance of summer 2016. Bethany is currently the UK U15 girls’ all time record holder for the 500 gram javelin with a throw of 48.84m. She was ranked number 1 in the UK in 2016 finishing clear of her nearest rival by 7m.…

The PE department would like to celebrate the recent successes of pupils, in particular the Yr8 boys football team who were victorious last week against Croesyceilog in the Welsh Cup. The 4-2 win puts the boys through to the last 8 of the competition. Congratulations to Ewan Partington on receiving the Mark Jones Award in the annual West Glamorgan Youth Music concert held in the Brangwyn Hall last night. Ewan is currently principal clarinettist of the County youth wind orchestra and was selected to receive this award for his commitment and achievements. Also ex-pupil Baydn Hughes received the John Jenkins young performer award. Congratulations to Bethan Tew in Year 7 who won Student of the Year at her drama school’s award ceremony. Her drama school is Fame Factory Theatre School and consists of four schools covering Ammanford, Caerphilly, Pontyclun and Neath. The main school caters for children aged 7 – 17 and she beat off competition from over 120 other students from all four schools, many of whom were much older than her, to win the most prestigious award of the evening!
