English Exams (Yr11)

A reminder that your child will be sitting Unit 1 English Language on 08/01/2016 (am) and Unit 2 on 12/01/2016 (am). All pupils have revision tasks to practise their exam skills so please encourage them to complete these over the next two weeks. Additional past papers can be found on the WJEC website.

Festival of Music

The Festival of Music last night was fantastic! A big thank you to all staff and pupils that were involved but especially Rachel and Hywel. Our pupils were an absolute credit to the school. Parents, family and governors said it was one of the best concerts yet! Well done all. Sue Handley (Headteacher)

Netball Success

Successful night of netball last night. Girls from Years 7 – 10 played in an inter-year tournament showcasing their skills. A successful event that will be replicated in the New Year. Reminder that there are NO clubs after school next week. They will commence again after the Christmas break.

Duke of Edinburgh 2015

During 2015, 44 year 10 pupils completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh at Dwr-y-Felin. They completed their final Expedition in the Gower. The pupils involved were fantastic. After 2 days of hard hiking they all completed the challenge and made some brilliant memories.   Also during 2015, 29 year 11 pupils completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Expedition in the Brecon Beacons. Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition

During October 2015, 29 year 11 pupils completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Expedition in the Brecon Beacons. At Dwr-y-Felin we have a fine tradition of delivering the Duke of Edinburgh Award, national qualification, which helps teach students how to work as part of a successful team, along with developing communication and leadership skills. Christmas Banner Design Challenge

Digital literacy is an increasingly important aspect of children’s education so we are always looking for ways to integrate ‘digital working’ into the curriculum. With this in mind we recently challenged some Yr10 pupils to design a Christmas themed banner for our school website. The creative talent on show was superb with pupils submitting lots of great designs. Netball Success

Last night our Year 7 netball team were victorious over Maesydderwen with a 5-1 win. Jessica Richards was awarded player of the match. Year 9 netball were also victorious in a tough, well fought match winning by 15-13 against Maesydderwen mix of YEAR 10/11 team! Well done to Megan Johns who was awarded player of the match. Can you help?

Police officers are investigating the assault of a 13-year-old girl in the Bryncoch area. The incident happened at 4.30pm on Wednesday 4th November while the girl was walking through a wooded area near Princess Drive. She was approached by the suspect and pushed to the ground.
