Foundation Stones Project

Some of our pupils have been very busy painting stones for the United Kingdom Memorial Foundation – Foundation Stones project this half term. These stones will be sent to London by the History department, where they will become part of the UK Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre when it is built. The Small Things are a volunteer run, charitable organisation, based in Neath Port Talbot, who work collaboratively with organisations, local schools and charities to support people within the local community. You can find further information about them on their Facebook page Paula Jarvis from The Small Things Project dropping off thirty bags to support our pupils. High Sheriff Awards

Past pupils Kieran Thomas-Jenkins, Emily Pearce, Lily Pearce and Amy Regan accept the High Sherrif’s award for their work on petitioning the Welsh Government to ensure all schools in Wales have Wellbeing Ambassadors. The petition was put on hold due to Covid, but the Welsh Government is now in the process of taking it to members. Well done all for your hard work and effort and all the best for your future.

Dwr-y-Felin has continued to support our national football team as part of ‘The Red Wall’ in this year’s Euro qualifying campaign. A small group of passionate supporters have been to every home game in this campaign! Firstly we watched Wales take on Slovakia and win 1-0, then Azerbaijan with another win, this time 2-1, and finally, last night, witnessed Wales achieving a draw in a thrilling match against a very physical, World Cup Finalists, Croatian team. Welsh Baccalaureate Project Goes Live

Six of our Year 9 pupils recently had the opportunity to try out their Enterprise Skills as part of their Welsh Bacc. qualification by face painting in the Liberty Stadium before Swansea City played Brentford in the FA Cup. Wales Rugby & Football

This term has once again seen some of our pupils have the fantastic opportunity of supporting our national team playing both rugby and football live in Cardiff. Unfortunately, Wales was defeated in both games of football, firstly against Spain and then more recently against Denmark. Dance World Cup 2018

Emily, Alana and Eleri have been selected to represent Team Wales in this years’ prestigious Dance World Cup, the largest dance competition in the world! It takes place in Barcelona from 22nd-30th June. 5000 dancers from 47 countries from around the world will be taking part.
