Sporting Success

The PE department would like to celebrate the recent successes of pupils, in particular the Yr8 boys football team who were victorious last week against Croesyceilog in the Welsh Cup.  The 4-2 win puts the boys through to the last 8 of the competition.

Recognition also needs to be given to a number of athletes; Lauren Thomas (Yr9) had a fantastic competition on the weekend competing at the U15 West Wales indoor athletics competition. She had a PB in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.77 seconds which would rank her 2nd in Wales for her age group, followed by a PB in the 60m sprint.  Emily Michael (Yr10) also had success at the same competition winning a silver medal in the U17 60m sprint. Lauren has been selected to represent ANT at a school’s sports hall athletics competition later this year along with Ellis Evans (Yr9) following their performances at the Swansea competition.

A few weeks back Lauren, Ellis, Emily & Molly Goss (Yr9) took part in the Welsh Open Athletics and achieved excellent results; Lauren 1st in the 200m, Ellis 2nd in 200m, Emily 1st in U17 300m and Molly 5th in 300m.

Well done all!
