Anti Radicalisation Training

From 1st July 2015 all schools are subject to a duty under section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015, in the exercise of their functions, to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”. This duty is known as the Prevent duty. On Saturday 16th January Dwr-y-felin Music Department were part of a special screening of the hit film ‘Pride’ in the Gwyn Hall Neath organised by the British Film Institute (BFI) for the ‘Britain on Film Special Screenings’. English Exams (Yr11)

A reminder that your child will be sitting Unit 1 English Language on 08/01/2016 (am) and Unit 2 on 12/01/2016 (am). All pupils have revision tasks to practise their exam skills so please encourage them to complete these over the next two weeks. Additional past papers can be found on the WJEC website.

Festival of Music

The Festival of Music last night was fantastic! A big thank you to all staff and pupils that were involved but especially Rachel and Hywel. Our pupils were an absolute credit to the school. Parents, family and governors said it was one of the best concerts yet! Well done all. Sue Handley (Headteacher)

Netball Success

Successful night of netball last night. Girls from Years 7 – 10 played in an inter-year tournament showcasing their skills. A successful event that will be replicated in the New Year. Reminder that there are NO clubs after school next week. They will commence again after the Christmas break.

Duke of Edinburgh 2015

During 2015, 44 year 10 pupils completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh at Dwr-y-Felin. They completed their final Expedition in the Gower. The pupils involved were fantastic. After 2 days of hard hiking they all completed the challenge and made some brilliant memories.   Also during 2015, 29 year 11 pupils completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Expedition in the Brecon Beacons.
